The medical assistant are qualified to handle both executive and clinical duties. They can help patients to be confident and feel comfortable in the hospital environment. The medical assistant can do the following to Mr. James to feel him more comfortable both psychologically and physically

1. Talk to Mr. James like a normal human being and not as a patient. Respect his personality

2. Try to add jokes in the conversation which makes him smile without degrading his personality

3. Ask about his smoking history like a friend and don’t criticize him for his habit. Listen to him like a friend

4. Keep good eye contact and body language which makes Mr. James recognize that you (medical assistant) are considering him

5. Give a brief orientation about the services of department in which he needs treatment

6. Always make him feels that you (medical assistant) are there for him to support throughout the treatment process

7. Appreciate him when he tells about his job, career etc.

8. Guide him to consult the doctor and provide details about what he wants to know about the treatment with the help of doctor or nurse
