- HIV is contracted by direct contact with body fluids such as

person who is already diagnosed with HIV.
- The virus is contracted during unprotected sex with an infected
person.
- It can also be contracted by sharing injection needles or
equipment, receiving blood transfusions and or organ transplant
from an infected person.

and blood from the HIV positive partner enters the bloodstream of

- During pregnancy, birth or breastfeeding the virus can be
transmitted from the mother to the child.
