An experienced surveyor can survey stretch of road in 6 hours so that he/she can survey 1/6th of the given stretch of road in 1 hour.

An apprentice needs 11 hours to survey the same stretch of road so that he/she can survey 1/11th of the given stretch of road in 1 hour.

Therefore, working together, in 1 hour, an experienced surveyor and an apprentice can survey 1/6+1/11 = (17/66)th of the given stretch of road .

Hence, if the two work together, they will complete the job in 66/17 hours = 3.88 hors approximately ( on rounding off to 2 decimal places).
