Logarithms invented by independently by John Napier and JoostJBurgi.

Napier lagoritham published in 1614 and Burgi's lagoritham published in 1620.

The purpose of inventing lagoritham was to assist in the multiplication of quantities that were then called sines.

The whole sine was the value of a side of right angled triangle with large hypotenuse.

The natural logarithm has the number e(2.718) as it's base. It's use is widespread in Mathemetics and physics because of its simpler derivative.
