2. Using the steps of the research process, please evaluate the following effort and suggest three major changes (list your suggestions as three bullet points).

The Pocono Airline Company wanted to alter the interior layout of their aircraft to suit the tastes of the growing segment of their market- business people. They were planning to increase their leg space and install tables so that the business people could work during long flights. Before renovating, the management decided to do some research to ensure that the changes would meet the needs of their passengers. The following strategy was employed.

Due to an ease of administration, the surveys were distributed only on short flights of less than an hour. The study was conducted during the third and fourth week of December, since the flights were full at that time. To increase the response rate, the flight attendants were given a quota of surveys that they were required to collect from the passengers. The management was also interested in collecting as much information as possible. Hence, the questionnaire included issues in addition to the new seating arrangement and took about 20 minutes to complete.

Answer #1

Following are the major change-

1. The surveys should be conducted in long flights as buiness people prefer to work during commute time and plan was to increase the leg space and install tables for them during long flights

2. The survey should have been conducted in another month and not in the 3rd & 4th week of December as it's a holiday weeks and there would be less number travel.

3. The questionnaire should be of lesser time as Business people will not prefer to spend that much time on these surveys and rather have their own personal time.
