There is two thermostat in the same room. One thermostat controls the air temperature of one room while the other controls the temperature for multiple room. The second thermostat needs to stay at the same temperature. If the controller has a three-point system, which are cool, off, and heat, what will be the control action should be expected in the summer and in the winter?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

contoller has three point system.

During the summer season when there is need of air conditioning, set first thermostat to the "COOL" position. This tells the controller what to do as temperature rises above the second thermostat setting (turn on the air conditioning system) or when room temperature falls below the second thermostat set temperature (turn off the air conditioner).

During the winter season, when there will need warmth, set the first thermostate switch to the "HEAT" position. This tells the controller what to do when temperatures fall (turn on the heating system) or when temperatures rise to the thermostat setting (turn off the heating system) with respect to the second thermostat.

and second thermostat will be connected at OFF position everytime .

One advantage to being small is that it is easier to cool off after exertion than if you are large. For example, hummingbirds generate a lot of heat as their wings beat quickly, but they can cool off very quickly in response. (The flip side is, it is harder to stay warm when the air temperature is low.) In this problem we will develop a simple model of the smallest shrew and a polar bear cooling off. We will model...

4.1A clothed or unclothed person feels comfortable when the skin temperature is about 33oC. Consider an average man wearing summer clothes whose thermal resistance is 0.109 m2 ? oC/W. The man feels very comfortable while standing in a room maintained at 20oC. If this man were to stand in that room unclothed, determine the temperature at which the room must be maintained for him to feel thermally comfortable. Assume the latent heat loss from the person to remain the same....

Two Carnot engines function in tandem, such that one rejects heat at a certain temperature, which the other absorbs at the same temperature. Let the first engine be A, and the second B. A intakes 13.4 kW of heat at 530K, and B rejects heat at 270K while doing 2.4kW of work. Determine the power output (work) of engine A.

My husband and I always argue about the temperature in our house. I like it at 294.0 K, while he likes to set the thermostat to 300.0 degrees K. As we take turns constantly changing the setting, our poor heating and cooling system tries to keep up. I argue that it causes us to waste money. My living room contains 50 kg of air. In the summer time, I pay about $0.14 per kWh of energy used. How much does...

Chem Lab 101 Summarize what you observe when you disconnect the stopper from the flask after the flask has cooled. This is one of the questions for my Chem 101 Lab that I somehow missed. The experiment involved placing a rubber stopper over a 150 mL beaker with a pressure sensor fixed to a hole in the stopper. The flask was then placed in a beaker of boiling water and the water's heat source was turned off. After all measurements...

For each control identified, label the control as either “partner authority/action”, “access control”, or “application control”. You may have more than one risk associated with an intention, and you may have more than one control associated with a risk. At least three different risks. Using the tuning fork, you lower the water level until you hear the first three resonances. The first, second, and third resonances are at 0.35m, 1.05m and 1.75m respectively.
