Pick 1 frequency range in the RF spectrum and discuss the possible applications, explaining why that frequency range is suited for that application

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer:- Radio frequency range starts from 0 Hz to 300 GHz. In between, eleven bands are there. Top most three bands are known as microwave. Some of the applications are like:- navigation, communication, broadcasting, radar etc.

For the last band i.e EHF(Extremely High Frequency, 30 GHz - 300 GHz), is used for RADAR, communication systems, radio astronomy and remote sensing.

The selection of frequency for a particular application depends on the atmospheric transsimitivity.
For example, near 60 GHz signal is used for measurement of temperature in upper atmosphere(remote sensing). This is done by measuring the radiation absorbed or reflected from the oxygen molecules in the atmosphere.
