When a government's power is restricted through certain authorities, it is said to be a limited government. They have very few laws . Its main function is to protect people and their property and to finance national defence and law enforcement. It is about having more individual freedom.

Even though the classical economists advocates laissez faire they support the establishment of certain public institutions as well as maintaining certain public works . But they want to  reduce the budget size. The government spends less as wall as levies less taxes. These are the additional functions that the classical economists proposes for a government to perform other than defence , law and order which the proponents of the limited government advocates.
