select a figure of status, someone who was well known to the public (current or historical, fact or fiction). Your assignment will be to place this individual into a corporate setting as a boss. This means that they cannot have already run a company or have already been in such a position in a business setting. You will be required to speculate how they would be as a boss/leader, especially in the areas of hiring/recruitment, firing, motivating/performance, and lastly dealing with grievances. You must be able to back your speculations with examples of what they have done in their lives thus far, or what they did in history (this means your claims must be backed by RESEARCH). You will choose ONE PERSON who would be successful as a leader and ONE PERSON would would fail miserably as a leader. Each must be broken down independently

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Successfull Person - Abraham Lincoln - He would have kept his employees highly motivated even in the face of adversity, like he did during the civil war. He would have pursued business for not just profit but for the betterment of community, like the selfless manner in which he ran for and then discharged his presidency.

Failure Person - Muhammad Ali Jinnah - He would have been a corporate boss who would have always played the game of setting one subordinate against another, like he did with Hindus and Muslims of British India, for his personal gains. He would have functioned only in the self interest and sacrificed those of his company at the altar of personal ambition. Like what he did with pre-independence India, by carving out Pakistan so that he also could become the prime-minister of a country.
