In my lifetime the middle class has been diminished. There is evidence of a shrinking middle class. According to Schwartz (2017) , the middle class is indeed shrinking. In 2010, the middle class was reported to make between 35K and 105K per year. From 1991 to 2010 this segment fell from 62% down to 59%. In Britain this segment increased from 61% to 67% in Great Britain. In France, this segment also grew from 72% to 74%. Income groups at the top and bottom have also increased. The rich are getting richer and the poor are continuing to be poor. Generally, you will see shift from the lower to middle but that has not been the case recently.

For the last two decades, the middle class shrinking in the US. Compared to the other European counterparts the US middle-class struggle to make income. There is a considerable contraction in the middle class, whereas the rank of the poor and rich grown. The adult population in the middle class has been showing a declining and more economically divided in the US. It declined from 62 to 59 per cent in the US compared to the increase in both France and Britain in the same period. The shrinking middle class is not a problem it shows more people are moving up the income ladder. Also, the middle-income earner is smaller in number but rich and poor and large in number. But still, the median income of the US middle class is much higher than that of European countries.
