Air cargo has experienced a renaissance in the last several years because of skyrocketing international e-commerce amid heightened consumer expectations and reduced oil prices. Additionally, airfreight has become increasingly competitive against other modes of transportation in recent years. Discuss how air cargo should be forecast in 20 years and develop a schematic diagram on the future plan of cargo infrastructure with consideration of air traffic forecast. Answer With 5 references
Air Cargo & it’s Scope- Forecast
The expansion and the development of e-commerce, oil prices,
competition between emerging economies and between the service
providers itself increased the amount of cargo transferred through
air. Digitalizing trade, need of quick deliveries, inline and
electronic trade etc. have all influenced the change in the
structure of the transportation of cargo. The effect of these has a
long term impact which could increase the growth of the mode of
transportation of freight.
The technological development in both the economy and of the mode
of transportation has huge impacts in the changes. The scope of the
sector needs further development in infrastructural facilities
especially in emerging economies. Countries with high chances of
export with least infrastructure for collecting and sending cargo
need further investments and expansion in the sector. Increasing
scope of trade is increasing developing countries to find possible
way of exporting. Creating infrastructure in the countries where
they fail to find a proper mode of international cargo
transportation will help increase the trade activities and the
scope in the sector too. Increased ability of freight capacity in
the airports, large amount of exports are all factors that could
stand as driving factors to the growth of the sector in the future.
The technological development has increased the efficiency to
manage air traffic. That can have a positive effect in increasing
the no. of services at a time reducing the time for the total
transportation and reducing the time for freight to reach the
destination. Reduced barriers for the free trade, increased
cooperation between countries have all impacted in increasing the
scope of air cargo. Attractive charges and the less time
consumption to transport the cargo are also attracting people using
other modes to air cargo.
