What does gross national product measure

Answer #1

GNP(Gross national product) measures the total value of goods and services produced by a country's resident in a given period of time. This production can be within the country or/and outside the country. That is if any foreign residents produce within the country it will be excluded from the calculation of GNP. On the other hand, if any domestic residents produce outside the border of the country it will be calculated in the calculation of GNP. GNP is a broad measure of country's income.

GNP= GDP+ Net income inflow from abroad - Net income outflow to the foreign countries.
