How is/are the market(s) divided among these competitors?

Answer #1

The division of market with respect to the competitors depends upon the type of market structure. Market for Starbucks is basically a monopolistically competitive one because Starbucks cannot charge too high a price. At the same time it uses differentiation in the product to maintain the customers and also advertisers in order to attract new customers. It is true that Starbucks has a significant market share so that it can influence the price but its ability to influence the price is restricted by relatively free entry and exit.
