Mobile industry opted to use PSK (phase shift keying) over FSK (frequency shift keying). Explain the benefits of PSK over FSK.

Answer #1

Benefits of PSK over FSK:

PSK is a data modulation technique which transmits the data continiously based on reference signal or data input.

1.The data carried on a radio communication signal is more efficient in PSK than FSK.

2.It has efficient power System and more bandwidth frequency compared to FSK. In FSK has less effiicient in both power and bandwidth.

3.FSK has limitations to use only in low speed modems due to its bitrate. wheras PSK is used in high speed modems.

4.PSK has higher data rate of transmission, this can be achieved using highlevel of PSK suchas QPSK hence it is used in wireless communications.

example: bluetooth,biometric

5.The probability of error is less in PSK .

6.In PSK scheme it is possible to send a signal having more than one digital value.

A continuously operating coherent Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) system is made by an engineer. He claims that it is having an average error probability of 10-5. The system produced 1000 errors in a day when tested with a data rate of 500 bits/s and the single-sided noise power spectral density is No=10-10 W/Hz. He also claim that the system is capable of maintaining the error rate even if the received power is as low as 10-6 W. Do you...

Consider LeChatelier’s principle. Explain how the equilibrium of a gas phase reaction will generally shift when the partial pressure (or concentration) of each gaseous reactant and product is increased proportionally. Determine which way the equilibrium will shift for the HI reaction if it is at equilibrium and then all three partial pressures are doubled.
