Answer #1

Cookies contain small text files, and information in those text files is subdivided in to attributes.

I will discuss some of the attributes in those text files:

1- A randomly generated unique number that is used to recognize your computer.

2- The domain name(the website to which cookie refers).

3- Data entered by the user via web forms.

4- Visited sub-pages

Example of cookies: Google analytics, Java Script, Sess.

Tracking devices other than cookies:

  • Canvas finger printing
  • Mouse tracking
  • Browser fingerprinting
  • Web beacons
  1. Canvas finger printing: In this method, Hashing functions take chunk of data such as a piece of text, image, or audio and reduce it to a standardized amount of data without losing its uniqueness.
  2. Mouse tracking: In this method, a number of functions are available for data handling operations, such as filtering or adding of new variables or trajectories. e.g mt_subset(filters mouse tracking data by trials) , mt_add_variables(adds new, self created variables to a trajectory array) , mt_add_trajectory(adds a new trajectory) , mt_bind(joins two trajectory arrays).
  3. Browser fingerprinting: Website access logs on the server can collect data that is sent by your browser. At a minimum, that is usually the protocol and URL requested, the requesting IP address, the referer (SIC) and the user agent string.
  4. Web beacon: It send small amounts of data from the browser to the web server without waiting for a response.
