A. Take measurements to within ½ inch for the ceiling and ¼ inch for the walls.

B. Score the backside paper leaving some material at the top and bottom to act as a hinge.

C. Guide the knife with a drywall T-square using your toe to hold the bottom.

D. Smooth ragged edges with a drywall rasp, coarse sanding block, or knife.

E. Bend the board back against the cut. The board will break along the cut face.

F. Lifting the panel off the floor, snap the cut piece back quickly to the straight position. This will complete the break.

G. Using a utility knife, cut the board by first scoring the face side through the paper to the core. Only the paper facing needs to be cut.
