In a elementary school with 657 occupants, how many of each plumbing fixtures are needed?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

As per 2015 Building Code, the minimum plumbing fixture required in educational facilities-

In case of Elementary School-

Water Closets(Urinals see section 412.9 of the International Plumbing Code) - 1 per 50

Lavatories - 1 per 50

Bathtubs / Showers - None

Drinking Fountains (See section 410 of the International Plumbing Code) - 1 per 100

Other- 1 service link

To determine the occupant load of each sex , the total occupant load shall be divided into half. To determine the required number of fixtures the fixture ratio or the ratios for each fixture shall be applied to the occupant load of each sex. Fractional numbers resulting from applying the fixture ratio shall be rounded up to the next whole number.

Each plumbing fixtures are needed as follows:

Total Occupants load = 657

half of the occupants load = 657/2 = 328.5

Water Closets = 328.5/50 = 6.57 = 7

Lavatories= 328.5/50 = 6.57 = 7

Bathtubs / Showers = None (In case of elementary school)

Drinking Fountains = 328.5/100 = 3.28 = 4

Other = 1 Service link.

Over the entire six years that students attend an Ohio elementary school, they are absent, on average, 28 days due to influenza. Assume that the standard deviation over this time period is σ = 9 days. Upon graduation from elementary school, a random sample of 36 students is taken and asked how many days of school they missed due to influenza. What is the expected value for the sampling distribution of the number of school days missed due to influenza?...

Suppose you are interested in the population of all elementary school students in Missoula County. Suppose also that we collect information from a (non-random) sample of 30 elementary school students at a particular elementary school. Identify each of the following as either a parameter or statistic. Also include the appropriate corresponding symbol used to denote it. The average score received on a standardized math test by the 30 students sampled. The proportion of elementary school students in Missoula County participating...

An elementary school teacher learned that 40% of school children have at least 3 cavities. The teacher has 30 students in his class. How many students would he expect in his class to have at least 3 cavities? What is the standard deviation? Using the appropriate approximation, determine P(x>20); that is, the probability that more than 20 students in his class will have 3 cavities.

A psychologist has designed an index to measure the social perceptiveness of elementary school children. The index is based on ratings of a child's responses to questions about a set of photographs showing different social situations. A random sample of 16 elementary school children was chosen, and their index measurements were recorded. Assume that the index measure in the population is normally distributed. The 95% confidence interval created from this data is (56.29, 65.09). This interval indicates: Select one or...

My children went to a magnet elementary school with 300 enrolled students. Another nearby elementary magnet had 800 elementary-age children. My wife and I wondered, “How big should an elementary school be?” What economic forces suggest bigger schools are cheaper at providing education, and what forces suggest smaller schools are cheaper, holding constant the quality of education? Note: I am only asking about the cost of education, and I am assuming—and want you to assume--that the quality of education is...

The quality of the elementary school teachings is very important, and the effectiveness of teaching can be shown by the students’ performance on the standardized test. The state requires that the average score of the 5th grade students from each school need to be at least 75. If any school’s average score is below 75, the school will be investigated further to ensure their quality of teaching. For School A, 20 5th grade students are randomly selected to take the...
