. As part of the development process going on in the country, the average annual discharge at the outlet of a catchment is 0.5 m3/s. The catchment is situated in a desert area (no vegetation) and the size is 800 km2. The average annual precipitation is 200 mm/year.
a. Compute the average annual evaporation from the catchment in mm/year.
In the catchment area an irrigation project covering 10 km2 is developed. After some years the average discharge at the outlet of the catchment appears to be 0.175 m3/s.
b. Compute the evapotranspiration from the irrigated area in mm/year, assuming no change in the evaporation from the rest of the catchment.

A 4000-square kilometer watershed receives 102 cm of precipitation annually. The average flow of the river draining the watershed is 32.4 m3/s. Infiltration is estimated to be 5.5 x 10-7 cm/s and evapotranspiration is estimated to be 40 cm/year. (a) Determine the annual change in storage in the watershed in m3. (b) Compute the runoff coefficient, C (runoff/precipitation) for the watershed.

Part I. Indicate whether true or false (T or F). ____ Storm water detention ponds typically are designed to regulate the outflow peak rate at or below a single target value, such as the pre-development (pre-land use change) peak runoff rate for a specified return period event. Detention storage alters the peak but not the volume of the outflow hydrograph. _____ Typical rating curves for weirs are concave upward. Typical rating curves for orifices are concave downward. ____ A sediment...
