[Ag(NH3)2]OH + 3HNO3 +NaCl what is net ionic equation for this?! tollen reagent

[Ag(NH3)2]OH + 3HNO3 +NaCl what is net ionic equation for this?!

tollen reagent

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Here in this reaction first tollens reagent reacts with HNO3 and form silver nitrate

[Ag(NH3)2 ]OH + 3HNO3 --------- > AgNO3 + H2O + 2 NH4NO3

THEN SILVER NITRATE REACTS WITH CHLORIDE IONS

AgNO3 + NaCl ---------> AgCl + NaNO3

silver chloride formed above forms white precipitation

( we use this (silver nitrate) as a test reagent to confirm the presence of chloride ions in solution)

hence the net reaction we can get by adding the above two reaction

[Ag(NH3)2 ] OH + 3HNO3 + NaCl --------- >AgCl + H2O +2 NH4NO3 + NaNO3
