Use the solubility rules to predict the molecular (full) equation, complete ionic equation, and net ionic equation when the following solutions are mixed together. Circle the precipitate if a precipitate forms.
AgNO3 (aq) and NaCl (aq) write
1.Molecular (full) equation
2.Complete ionic equation
3.Net ionic equation
According to solubility product constants and rules, all nitrates including NaNO3 is water soluble whereas the chloride of silver, mercury and lead are not solubule with AgCl being a white precipitate. Thus, the net equation for the double displacement would be:
AgNO3(aq) + NaCl(aq) AgCl(s) + NaNO3(aq)
For ionic equation, we separate the ions of the parts which are aqueous or water soluble:
Ag+(aq) + NO3-(aq) + Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq) AgCl(s) + Na+(aq) + NO3-(aq)
For net ionic equation, we cancel out the common terms:
Ag+(aq) + Cl-(aq) AgCl(s)
