The alkali metals include the following chemical elements: lithium (Li), sodium (Na), Potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), Cesium (Cs) and Francium (Fr). These all elements constitute a group in the periodic table which is Group I. The alkali metals are highly reactive in nature and therefore these metals do not occur in the free state in nature. The alkali metals have to be kept under inert substance such as kerosene as they react rapidly with the oxygen and water vapor present in the air.
