write a chemical equation for cleaning supplies used in household items. any one would work
I have opted bleaching powder (liquid bleach).
When liquid bleach (NaOCl) reacts
with water to produce hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite
ions (OCl-). When chlorine is added to water,
hypochlorous acids form:
Cl2 + H2O -> HOCl + H+ +
Cl-
Depending on the pH value, hypochlorous acid partly dissociates
into hypochlorite ions:
Cl2 + 2H2O -> HOCl +
H3O+ + Cl-
HOCl + H2O -> H3O+ +
OCl-
This dissociates into chlorine and oxygen atoms:
OCl- -> Cl- + O
The chloride and oxygen atom (nascent atomic oxygen) are a powerful disinfectant.
Hope this helped you!
