what is a radiation buffer? explaib the cotinuum source correction method. inculde both the utility and a breif explanarion of the implementation
Radiation buffer is the term used to refer to the substance added to both sample and standard in atomic absorption spectrometry in large excess so that any interference by the initial sample becomes negligible. This is added to do background correction if any absorption is due to background molecular species.
In continuum source method ,both deuterium lamp and HCL lamp are made to pass light through the analyzer tube ,when the deuterium light absorbed by the analyte is negligible ,but only by the matrix. So the absorbance of deuterium light is substracted from absorbance of HCL light by the analyte ,thereby doing background correction
