Provide a comparison of a weak acid and weak base; your choices should
be different from those described by other students.
Indicate where each acid or base is found or used, and include its Ka or Kb.
Weak acids are the acids that do not dissociate completely when dissolved in water.
Their pH lies in the range of 3 and 6.
Eg:
Acetic acid , ka= 1.8 x 10-5 . Vinegar is a dilute solution of acetic acid in water.
Oxalic acid : ka1 = 5.4 x 10-2 , ka2 = 5.3 x 10-5. It is present in spinach , beet greens etc
Weak bases are the bases ,whose protonation is incomplete and also does not dissociate completely in aqueous solutions.
They have lower pH values than the stronger bases.
Eg:
Ammonia , kb = 1.80 x 10-5
It is present in many household products such as window cleaners
