Collagen is the group of proteins found in human body which play an important role in human connective tissue. It makes up connective tissue like skin, tendons, cartilage, organs, and bones. Our skin consists of several layers, the outer layer i.e. epidermis which consists of dead cells. Below this is the dermis, which has a blood supply and contains much of the skin’s collagen and elastin fibres, which give it structure and firmness.

In order to provide skin increased elasticity, the collagen in the cosmetic cream need to be absorbed into the skin. However, skin is an effective barrier to small molecules, so it is not possible for such a enormous collagen molecule to penetrate our skin. So, collagen found in cosmetic cream is false medical benefit.
