Explain why tin, zinc, and magnesium metals have different rates of reaction with the same acid solution
Solution :-
The reactivity of the metals depends on the metallic character of the metal
the magnesium metal is the group 2 element which have higher metaalic character than the zinc also the reduction potential of the magnesium is lower than that of the zinc therefore in the metal activity series the magnesium metal have higher activity than the zinch hence magnesium acts as strongner reducing agent than zinc. Therefore the reaction rate of the magnesium with acid is higher than thtat of the rate of the reaction of zinc with the same acid.
