Draw the conjugate acid of CH3CH2OH.
In acid-base reactions the acid suppose HA gives up a proton and produces a new base A-, this is the conjugate base of acid HA. Similarly original base B- accepts a proton give a new acid HB which is called cojugate acid of base B-
example : HA (acid) + B- (base) ------ > HB (conjugate acid) + A- (conjugate base)
as we have to find the conjugate acid of ethanol is treated as base it will accept a H (hydrogen) from water H2O to form a conjugate acid. While water molecule will be treated as an acid which will give a OH- (Base)
the cojugate acid of ethanol is an oxonium ion produced by accepting a H from water molecule.
NOte: treat the + sign on OH2+ and - sign on OH- above on molecule.
