NaCl, Corn Oil, Graphite, BaSO4, Kitty Litter, benzoyl peroxide, KNO3. Which of the following do you predict will be soluble in water?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

water soluble compounds : NaCl , KNO3 , kitty litter ,

these only soluble . NaCl and KNO3 perfectly soluble in water. because they are ionic compouunds. kitty litter is used in bathroom cleaning so it is also water soluble

water insoluble compounds: reasons

1) BaSO4 it is not soluble in water but soluble in acids and bases

2) corn-oil bulk molecule is non polar so in soluble in water

3) graphite is insoluble in water due to non-polar hexagonal rings in graphite .

4 ) benzoyl peroxide only little amount soluble in water due to its unstability ------------------> note
