Given stock solutions of glucose (1.00M), asparagine (0.100M), and NaH2PO4 (0.0500 M), explain how you would prepare 500 mL of a reagent that contains 50.0 mM glucose,10.0 mM asparagines, and 2.00 mM NaH2PO4

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We can use dilution method to prepare the solution by using

M1V1 = M2V2

M1V1 = molarity and volume of stock solution and M2V2 = molarity and volume of dilute solution

GLUCOSE

1.0 X V1 = 0.05 X 500, 50mM = 50 / 1000 = 0.05M

V1 = 25mL

asparagine

M1V1 = M2V

0.1 X V1 = 0.01 X 500

V1 = 50mL

NaH2PO4

M1V1 = M2V2

0.05 X V1 = 0.002 X 500 = 20mL

Total volume of concntratd solutions = 25mL + 50mL + 20mL = 95mL

Mix these stock solution to get a total of 95mL and then dilute by adding 405mL of distilled water to make the desired solution.
