Some different types of reactions that exist are acid-base, gas evolution, redox, and combustion reactions. What makes one decide what kind of chemical reaction is taking place? Are these reaction types unique or can they overlap? Please answer in greater than 100 words.
first we have to check the reactants weather these are acid bases or not. if they are acis bases then it is acid base reaction.
they can overlap need not to be a unique.
suppose for example
C + O2 --------> CO2 is combustion reaction as well as redox reaction.
again C6H12O6 + 6O2 ---------->6 CO2 + 6H2O is example of gas evolution , combustion , redox reaction.
if any substance react with O2 then it is said to be combustion. addition of electro negetive element is oxidation and removal of electronegetive element is called reduction.
if both oxidation and reduction happens simultaniously then it is called redox reaction.
