Calculate the molar mass of 2-bromo-2-methylpropane and state its value using 4 significant figures

Homework Answers

Answer #1

2-bromo-2-methyl propane has 4C , 1Br , H9 ,

atomic mass of C is 12.01 g/mol

Br has atomic mass of 79.904 g/mol

H has atomic mass of 1.00794 g/mol

Molar mass of C4H9Br = ( 4 x C atomic mass) + ( 9 x H atomic mass) + Br atomic mass

           = ( 4 x 12.01) + ( 9 x 1.00794) + (79.904)

        = 137.02 g/mol

since it asked 4 significant figures

         molar mass = 137.0 g/mol
