Explain the Law of Conservation of Matter. Explain the importance of the Kinetic Molecular Theory and how it applies to changes in states of matter. Explain the 3 ways heat is transferred.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Law of conservation of mass or matter states that the total mass of reactants is equal to total mass of products during a chemical reaction.

Matter/mass can neither be created nor be destroyed.

It remains constant.

According to kinetic molecular theory of matter, matter is made up of continuously moving particles.

The particles have varying energy based on their physical state.

Solids have least energy compared to liquids and gases.

Gas particles are highly energitic.

Heat is transformed from the source to various objects in 3 ways.

They are conduction, convection and radiation.

Conduction occurs in case of solids.

Convection occurs in liquids.

Radiation usually takes place in gases .

#1 How does kinetic molecular theory explain Dalton's law? Select the correct answer below: Question options: Gas particles collide with the container with the same frequency regardless of whether other gases are present. Gas particles are different sizes and do not contribute equally to the overall pressure, based on size. Gas particles contribute to the overall pressure based on their molar masses. Gas particles have inelastic collisions, based on their individual identity. Question #2 How does kinetic molecular theory explain...
