Using principles of kinetic-molecular theory, briefly explain the change in volume from 4.0L to 11.2L using a few sentences. Note that the changes in conditions may not have the same effect on the final volume (i.e. which one has more of an effect?)
According to kinetic-molecular theory gas particles are small hard spheres and they can collide with each other in a elastic collision and scatter here and there. They follow a straight line path until a collision occurs and they change their direction. Now if they are provided such space to move here and there without any restriction of pressures and temperatures, they can expand to a higher volumes in order to reduce the number of collision and that's why gases don't have definite volumes. Now increase in temperature and decrease in pressure catalyses this expansion of volume of gases and thus this work is done by the gas system itself!!
I hope it helps!!!
