1. What is a proper procedure for using a drying agent?

2. Explain aprotic and protic solvent effect on k for Sn1 and Sn2.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans. Drying agent are used with proper care as while using drying agent, any kind of moisture should not come in drying agent otherwise it will not be no more drying agent. While using drying agent, the reaction mixture should be kept under inert atmostpher of either Ar or N2.

Ans. There will be influence of solvent on the reaction rate of SN1 and SN2. In case of SN1, protic solvent effect is dominant and polar protic solvent increases the value of reaction rate while in case of SN2, Aprotic solvent increases the rate of reaction.
