White light is composed of different frequencies of visible light. When this white lightis incident on any material , some of the frequencies get absorbed by that material and the rest of it is reflected back. The frequencies which are reflected back determine the colour of the object. If the object absorbs all the light and reflects none , the colour of the object will be black.
When the white light is incident on the orange fruit , it absorbs all other light frequencies , but reflects back the one present in between red and orange . This is the reason it looks orange in colour.
