Two students vigorously boil water in open flasks, one is a room on campus (flask 1) and one in a room at a ski lodge (flask 2). The flasks are identical but flask 2 contains more water. The rooms have the same temp(20 degree C). Air pressure is 750 mmHg on campus and 500mmHg at ski lodge.

After several minutes of boiling, each student removes the flasks from the stove and seals it with a tight-fitting cover. Assume that the vigorous boiling forced all air particles out of the flasks.

A long time after the flasks are sealed, is the pressure inside flask 1 greater than, less than, or equal to the pressure inside flask 2? Explain.

Answer #1

Following is the Solution of the given problem, considering, the time passed after SEALING (i.e. which wouldn;t allow air to pass/leak in/out of the flasks) the Flasks is sufficient to allow complete condensation of Steam remaining in both the Flasks after Sealing.
