Ethnography is evaluated through the principal of falsifiability. True or False ?
Ethnography is the study of a culture. The qualitative methods
used for the study help us construct theories about social
processes, as to their reason of occurrence and their respective
consequences.
The theories, thus constructed, must be consistently logical, be
explanatory or predict with statistical significance, be
parsimonious i.e, it must use the least number of variables or
incorporate the least number of assumptions. In addition, the
theory must be Falsifiable. Philosopher Karl Popper, suggests that
the property of falsifiability makes the theory testable.
Thus, ethnography is evaluated by the principle of
falsifiability.
