what is relative neutrophilia and lymphophilia?
The blood contains many components and many types of cells. Out of these cells, the neutrophils and lymphocytes are also present. The number and concentration of these cells in the blood plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis of the humoral and immune system of the body. Increase or decrease in the number of these cells results in generation of pathological conditions or as a result of any pathological condition.
Here, it must be carefully noted that neutrophilia is a situation in which the total number of neutrophils increases too much in the blood resulting due to any infection of invasion from pathogen. Similarly, lymphophilia is a situation in which the total lymphocyte count increases too much in the blood thus sensitizing the humoral branch of immune system.
Both of these conditions result from any infection or invasion of the pathogen and hence require clinical attention.
