Beer-Lambert Question: Why is the absorbance/actual mass of dye ---> AU/µg dye imporant? What does this value mean?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The beer lambert’s law gives the relationship between absorbance and intensities. Absorbance is crucial as the amount of light absorbed depends on concentration of solutes in the sample. If the concentration is high, then the absorbance will be high and if the concentration is less, then the absorbance is low.

The value absorbance / actual mass of dye is the measure of amount of light absorbed per unit concentration of dye. It is referred to as molar absorbivity.
