Pathogenesis is the mechanism through which an infection causes disease or the production as well as developement of disease.A parasitic disease Leishmaniasis is caused by the Leishmania type. It is transmited by the bite of definite types of sandflies. This disease can occur in three forms that are cutaneous form that is demonstrate with skin ulcers, mucocutaneous form that is manifest with skin, nose and mouth ulcers, or visceral leishmaniasis present with ulcer of skin and then later develope with fever, low red blood cells, also enlarged spleen and liver. L. tropica and L. major are the species causing the Old World form of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the Middle east, Africa, Asia, Mediterrenean and India. An intracellular pathogen L. tropica and L. major that infects the macrophages as well as dendritic cells of the immune system and their incubation period differ from few days to many months. Initially there is a small symptom of an infection, red papule at bite site that may end in a few weeks, but generally thin crust is develops that conceal a spreading ulcer below. In many places cutaneous leishmaniasis is also called as 'oriental sore' i.e. more than 2 or 3 ulcers combine to produce large sore maybe recover within a few months to a year or may present into a secondary infection. A heterogeneous species L. Tropica is a strain complex that can be differentiated on serologic, biochemical and ecological grounds. Zoonotic L. tropica is a dogs parasite and rodents and is related with rural disease.
