Answer #1

When comparing the replicate populations in field and in controlled green house conditions, The heritability of field replicates would be high this is because of provision of receiving pollen from wide range of hosts and from distances. The higher heritability may also result in high phenotypic variance and higher environmental variance because of the influence of various environmental factors.

In contrast, in green houses, the conditions are maintained constantly in a controlled manner. There is less scope for pollen dispersal but the breeding experiments may help to produce high heritablity and phenotypic variance but lower environmental variance due to controlled conditions.

Therefore, option a is correct.

you have two populations of mockturtles (Testudo bogus) that differ in shell patternings. When grown under identical conditions, population A has solid green shells, while population B has marbled blue and yellow shells. Your research has identified the alice gene as the source of this variation. Which of the following observations would make you conclude that these phenotypic differences were caused by epigenetic differences in the alice gene between the two populations? a. Population A and B have identical DNA...

a)A psychologist is planning a study on the effect of motivation on performance on an attention task. In this task, participants try to identify target letters in a stream of letters passing by at a rapid rate. The researcher knows from long experience that, under ordinary experimental conditions, the population of students who participate in this task identify a mean of 71 of the key letters, that the standard deviation is 10, and that the distribution is approximately normal.
