Why use the women of all races and continents and not men for the study of evolutionary history of the human race
Ans. The study of evolutionary history of the human races is based on the analysis of mitochondria DNA. The mitochondrial DNA has relatively higher rate of mutations than nuclear DNA, so the change in mtDNA sequences is more prominent and can easily be used to trace the point of changes (evolutions) during evolution of races.
The mitochondria is maternally inherited, i.e. inherited from mother, but not from father.
Therefore, sequencing the mtDNA of women (but not men) of all races and continents would reflect the evolutionary history of human races.
