Predation is a strong selective force that has produced an abundance of organisms with antipredator strategies. Describe three such strategies and an example of each.
1. Camouflage
In this type of defence mechanism, the animal changes its color similar to it's surrounding environment. So the predator can't easily find the prey because it is indistinguishable in that specific environment.
Example: chameleons prevent predator attack by camouflage.
2. Defensive structures
In this type of defence mechanism, some animals have sharpe spines to prevent attack from their predator. So the spines in them make it difficult for the predator to catch them.
Example: Porcupines have sharpe spines to protect against their predators
3. Chemical defence
In this defensive strategy, some animals produce chemicals that makes bad odor. This odor makes the predator unapproachable to its prey.
Example: Skunks have special gland in their bodwhich sprays chemical which has offensive odor.
