1. Of the products of this redox reaction, compared to the reagents XH + Y -> X + YH

A. X is oxidized, more stable

B. X is reduced, less stable

C. Y is reduced, less stable

D. A and C

2. Additional to REDOX reactions, energy can be transferred to a biological molecule when that molecule undergoes a

freezing cool down

deamination reaction

catabolic reaction

phosphorylation reaction

Answer #1

1. The correct answer is D. Both A. and C. In this reaction XH + Y -------> X + YH the X atom loses the H+ ion. Thus XH compund is oxidised to X atom. Y atom accepts proton to form the YH molecule. Thus X is more stable than XH and Y is more stable than Y because reaction occur always to produce stable products. Hence Both A and C are correct.

2. Correct answer is phosphorylation reaction. During a phosphorylation reaction a phosphoryl group(PO32-) combines with organic compounds which helps to store energy in the biological molecules. Thus oxidative phosphorylation reactions along with redox reaction transfer energy to biological molecules.

I have provided the information for the lab below. I want to see the chemical reactions that take place during each step of the experiment. So in the procedures when a chemical was added i would like to see what the products and byproducts that were formed. I also want to see one over all reaction for this experiment to just get an overview of what exactly is happening during the experiment. Thank you:) Part B: Synthesis of [Co(NH3)5Cl]Cl2 Objective:...
