use the information extracted from the periodic table in the figure below to answer the following question. how many electrons does nitrogen have in its valence shell?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

answer - the no of the electron in the valence shell of nitrogen is found to have 5 valence electrons.

explanation below -

atomic number of nitrogen -  7

electron configuration - 1s2 2s2 2p3

so its electronic per cell will be -

normally we can write

2 5

hence we can see the valence electrons in nitrogen is 5

and valency is 3 , means the 3 electron are needed to complete the octet
