As a new accounts receivable specialist. Amy has been given a list of denied claims to work with. One of those claims was denied because of a primary diagnosis of obesity. Amy believes that the claim will be paid if the primary code of obesity is switched with the secondary code of migraine headaches. She approaches her manager with this information. Her manager explains that is is not possible to change the order of the codes, and that if they did it would be considered insurance fraud. She informs Amy that an appeal may reverse the denial with proper documentation.... Why would this claim be denied for obesity?

Obesity and Migraine

Obesity and migraine are comorbid , If a person is diagonised with obesity there is high risk of migraine and headache.Its also stated that episodic pattern of headaches transforming to a chronic pattern.

Obesity or Overweight is defined as excess of fat accumulation the impair health. Obesity or overweight is calculated based upon Body Mass index of individual (BMI).

Obesity is major cause for non communicable diseases like cardiovascular diseases,diabetes,musculoskeletal disorder and different types of cancer.
