- Bacterial transposons (prokaryotic transposons) are DNA
sequences that can change their positions in the genome, jumping
from one location to another.
- Two copies of them act together to transpose the DNA segments
in between them.
- Most of them have inverted repeats (IR) or inverted sequences
(IS)
- They are found in bacterial chromosomes aswell as plasmids
- After getting inserted at a new loci, they give rise to a 5 or
9bp repeated sequence
