Function of primary motor cortex:
- Control the voluntary movement.
- Responsible for execution of movement.
- It get information from the thalamus and it provides action to
the information.
Function of premotor cortex:
- It is located in front of the primary motor cortex.
- It controls the proximal muscles and axial muscles present in
the body and execute the movement in response to stimulus.
- Controlling the motor skills of repetitive and patterned
nature.
Function of somatosensory cortex:
- Somatic sensation in the body, visual stimuli and movement
planning.
- Located on postcentral gyrus.
Function of associative areas:
- It act as a connection between sensory and motor areas.
- Receive sensory stimuli from auditory, visual and gustatory, send
information to the cortex.
- Planning motor function and the action proceeds.
