Cerebral sulci and fissure are the depression present between the gyri in the cerebral hemisphere. The larger salcus are known as fissures . There are 2 major functions for cerebral sulcus. First one is it help to increase the surface area of cerebral cortex and it help to maintain more information by packing more neurons in the cerebral cortex.

Based on depth it is divided into 2 complete and incomplete.
Based on formation it is 2 type primary and secondary. Primary sulci formed from birth and secondary sulci formed after birth due to external factors.
