You are caring for a 29-year-old woman who is diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is an early-stage diagnosis, and the doctor states the chances of recovery is greater than 90%. The doctor outlines the treatment plan so the clinent fully understand the procedures and risks. She says she does not wish to undergo treatment and prefers to let God heal her. The docfor explains there is almosr a certain prognosis of death if she does not recieve treatment. The client says she will take her chances. What are your ethical obligations to this patient?

  • First, The Health care provider needed to acknowledge that this 29 year old women has a full right and choice to deny or refuse the treatment prescribed by the physician.
  • Here the women had refused to take the treatment, so as a HCP it is our immense responsibility to make an advice about the adverse effect and serious problem that would occur if she refuse to participate in these treatment.
  • We may also recommend some higher professionals who are more close to her and to explain the actual situation that she is facing now.
  • check her condition with the superior one about a chance of spreading to other person and After all the recommendation and advice, if she persist to refuse get an informed consent in the refusal form before she left the office.
